Spud Day

We were able to go to Shelley this last weekend and have some fun with our families. This weekend was also Shelley's Spud Day, a celebration for the town. First we had a parade in the morning, with a bunch of farming equipment
Some Star Wars action figures (pretty sweet),

And more farm equipment.

There was some other ones like the football teams and others. But those were the main ones.

Then they had a bunch of booths with good food, games and things for sale. There every year they give out free baked potatoes. There is always a huge line to get it, it's kinda funny. They say it's the best baked potatoes, but I think having it free makes a big difference. And it's funny because their mascot for their school is a russet, which is a potatoe.
Then something even funnier. They had a tug of war contest where they dug a hole in the middle and filled it up with mash potatoes! They had a bunch of people fall into it.
Here is the dumptruck they used to mix the mashed potatoes and pour it in the hole.

Here is the big hole full of mashed potatoes.

Here are the missionaries against some other guys, they did good on the first one but got pulled into it the secound time.

There was a pretty big crowd watching, haha.

Then after that, we had a barbeque for Paige, Jade and Ike for their birthdays. It was fun to with the family. To finish off their birthday celebration, we went to the demolition derby that evening. I had never been to one before, and I had a blast! There were alot of rednecks all over the place though, I guess I just blended in though. I couldn't believe how big of a deal it was.

I don't know how some of those cars kept going, some couldn't see past their hood. Dirt and antifreeze was flying everywhere, it was like a car part graveyard when they got done.

It was a fun weekend. We spent time with both of our families and had a blast. It was nice to get a three day weekend off.

I've always wanted to go to a demolition derby. Although I might have wanted to drill my temples out at the parade of tractors.
